Senator Lucy was sent by the Australian Government to participate in the Kenyan Post Election Seminar. The seminar was held by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association which covers Commonwealth nations across the world. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss how Kenya can improve their own political system by drawing on the experience of other Commonwealth nations.

Senator Lucy has been an enthusiastic advocate of Ice Factor which provides support for disadvantaged kids to be part of the sport of ice skating. She was invited to launch the Ice Factor Plus program which furthers what has been done with bold new initiatives. Read her address here.
The Zimbabwean Achievers Awards recognise Africans who have contributed to Australian society. Senator Lucy was honoured with an award and asked to say a few words.
University of South Australia celebrated their 40th Anniversary of their African Studies Program. They launched the new African Students Council of South Australia at the same time. Senator Lucy was invited to say a few words.

Wings to Fly is an organisation started by the CEO of Equity Bank, Dr. James Mwangi. The program gives money to young children whose families cannot afford the costs of education. These young children then receive sponsorship for their schooling and go on to University when they otherwise would not have been able to.
Senator Lucy was invited as the guest of honour by her good friend Dr. James Mwangi and gave the headline speech.
